Any app that shows the official Annex I legal-guarantee notice and the Annex II GARAN label, in the shopper’s language, unaltered, satisfies Directive (EU) 2024/825 and Implementing Regulation (EU) 2025/1960. The artwork is identical for every vendor because the regulation fixes it. So the choice is not about the artwork — it is about the seven differences below.
This is a buyer’s checklist, not a ranking. Use it against any app, including ours.

The seven checks
| # | Check | Why it matters | Red flag |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Official artwork, unaltered | The regulation fixes design, colours and wording; a redrawn label is treated as no label | “Customisable label” or “match your theme” |
| 2 | All 24 EU languages | The notice must appear in the shopper’s storefront language; the label is language-neutral | Only 5–10 languages, or machine translation |
| 3 | Per-product GARAN duration | The label is per product and carries the years; most products need no label at all | A single site-wide “guarantee” setting |
| 4 | No theme code | A theme update must not break compliance, and uninstalling must leave no orphan snippet | “Paste this into theme.liquid” |
| 5 | Dated record / report | A warning letter arrives months later; you need proof of what was live and when | No exportable record |
| 6 | Storefront performance | The notice is one image; it must not cause layout shift or block rendering | Render-blocking scripts on every page |
| 7 | Honest scope | It shows the labels; it does not certify your legal position | “Guarantees compliance” or “avoid fines” |
Check 1 — official artwork, unaltered
The single hardest rule. Annexes I and II of Implementing Regulation (EU) 2025/1960 fix the notice and the GARAN label completely. An app that offers to recolour, restyle or paraphrase them is offering you a compliance problem.
What an app can and cannot decide
An app displays the official artwork where you place it. It cannot decide whether a given producer guarantee qualifies as a commercial guarantee of durability under Article 2(14a) of Directive 2011/83/EU — that judgement is yours. No app is legal advice.
Check 2 — all 24 EU languages
The notice must be shown in the language of the storefront the customer is viewing. That means the Commission’s official translations, not an in-house one. The GARAN label is different: one element already lists the phrase in all 24 languages, so a single file serves every market.
Check 3 — per-product GARAN duration
Most stores need the notice only. The label is required solely where a producer offers a free durability guarantee longer than two years, covering the whole product. A good app lets you set the duration per product, in bulk, and renders nothing on products that do not qualify.
Checks 4 to 7 in practice
- No theme code. The notice should be a theme extension or app embed; the label an app block. A theme redesign should never break compliance, and uninstaling should remove both cleanly.
- Dated record. Choose an app that exports a dated PDF or CSV: notice status, labelled products, findings, version. It is the document you hand to a lawyer or a client.
- Performance. The notice is one image with declared dimensions and lazy loading; the label renders only on qualifying products. Nothing external should load on your storefront.
- Honest scope. A credible vendor says “we display the required labels” — never “you are compliant” or “we prevent fines”.
Questions buyers ask
Do I actually need an app for the EU guarantee notice on Shopify?
No. You can add the official notice file to your theme by hand and show the GARAN label with a product metafield. An app exists to remove the recurring work: 24 language files, per-product durations, bulk assignment, EU-only display and a dated record.
Which EU guarantee label app is best for Shopify?
Any app that ships the unaltered official artwork in all 24 EU languages, sets the GARAN duration per product, adds no theme code, and produces a dated record meets the legal requirement. Compare vendors on those seven checks rather than on the artwork, which the regulation fixes for everyone.
What should I refuse to accept in an app?
A label you can recolour or restyle, a single store-wide guarantee setting instead of a per-product duration, a solution that requires editing theme files, and any promise that the app makes you compliant or prevents fines.
Does the app need to be in my customers’ language?
The notice must appear in the shopper’s storefront language, so the app must serve the official translations for every language you publish. The GARAN label itself is language-neutral.
Is a free plan enough?
A free plan usually covers the notice and a handful of labelled products, which is enough for stores with no producer durability guarantees. Stores labelling many products, or needing bulk assignment and the dated report, typically need a paid plan.
Short version
The law is met by the official artwork, in the right language, in the right place, unaltered. Everything else — pricing, bulk tools, records, support — is what you are actually choosing between. Decide on the seven checks, then install what fits.
