The law, in plain words
Directive (EU) 2024/825, with the templates fixed in Implementing Regulation (EU) 2025/1960. It applies to every trader selling goods to consumers in the EU, whatever platform they use.
Consumers must see the EU notice about the two-year legal guarantee before they buy. Online, that means on the product page or clearly on the way to checkout.
If the producer offers a free durability guarantee longer than two years, the harmonised GARAN label must sit next to the product image and show the duration.
'Eco-friendly', 'climate neutral' or 'green' without proof become an unfair commercial practice from the same date.
